Chinese export porcelain blue and gold initialled tureen and cover, circa 1790. Of oval bombé form, each piece inscribed with the initials “JES” in script, reserved on gold-ground medallions edged in borders of stars and scalloped leaftips, further surrounded by wide gilt trellis diaper bands reserved with gold leaftips on a blue ground and within matching borders, surrounded by ribbon bandings, the reeded entwined strap handles with berried leaf terminals, upright floral knop. Width 14 inches, height 12 inches.
