This mask is recognized by it’s speed and flexibility, the feathers indicating flight energy and the speed of an eagle. When mungangi comes racing onto the dance floor, leaping straight to the drummers, the spectator imminently senses the freedom of this mask to leap, run, twist and turn in contrast to the stately kipoko. Who performs much of his dance. This energy attracts speed.
