Obtained from deceased family’s estate in Okinawa, grand daughter of Okinawan that cleared caves after WWII kept the helmet & many other war relics realizing their potential value after the war. Ushijima Mitsuru supreme commander of Okinawa 1945 beheaded after seppuku rather than suffer the shame of defeat a tragic real life story. Ushijima the son of a former samurai was the first Japanese commander to Warn the Japanese government not to attack Pearl Harbor, sent into exile for his Warnings into the vast wilderness of china on campaigns till 1944 Forgiven promoted & sent to defend Okinawa 1945. Loved by his officers and men as a gentleman that frowned upon abuse or showing anger. Ushijima’s story told in numerous books.
