Extremely rare set of American associated pistols. Only one other pair of silver-mounted Halbach pistols are known. With Halbach’s signature pommel caps with relief eagles with shields. One cap is decorated with 12 stamped stars, the other with 13 stars. Both with Arnold Halbach’s silver mark "AH." 8 inch .65 caliber smoothbore brass barrels. Barrels unmarked. Lockplates marked "Coble, probably the owner. Pierced english silver side plates, silver trigger guards, not English. One rear trigger guard tang with period silver patch repair.
Condition: locks in original flintlock configuration, polished bright. One lock functions properly with replaced top jaw screw, the other needs adjustment, with replacement cock. Both side plates with added pins, denting to ramrod ferrules, wear and marks to butts. One pistol stock with heavy wear with scattered chips, cracks and filled repairs, the other with some wear and silvers replaced under lock plate.
