Topsham, Maine, 1834, titled "Records of The Ladies’ Association for Moral and Mental Improvement, " containing minutes of their meetings. The group included the wives of many notable Maine politicians, including John Holmes, Adelaide Ruggles, Edward O’Brien, and perhpas most notably Jonathan Cilley, who was killed in a duel the day before his wife held a meeting of the Association.
