Oil on canvas, 30 x 25 inches, in a later gilt frame.
Harriet Underwood (1830-died young). The Underwoods possibly lived in Pawtucket, RI, at time of painting. According to family tradition, Harriet’s family put her in institution as they were wealthy. Harriet may have suffered from "Turner’s Syndrome". Symptoms include cataracts, puffy hands and feet, scoliosis, arms turned out at elbows, short stature, unusual shape/rotation of ears.
