Shipment from Thomas & George Hawkes of Liverpool upon the ship USS United States. Thomas & George Hawkes were an extremely well known flint glass maker of the time. Thomas & George inherited the business from father after his death in 1800. The ship USS United States would later be in battle where they took over the British frigate Macedonian in the war of 1812. the document is signed Lieutenant Josias M Speake. the shipment is going to well known apothecary shop owner Edward Stabler located in Fairfax and Alexandria Virginia. stabler had famous clients including Elisha Dick who was George Washington’s dr during his terminal illness, Martha Washington, James Monroe, Robert E Lee and more. shipment for 2 casks of flint glass for a citizen of the united states.
