Lot 204B:
Harold Preble was a Naval Architect at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Problem was 1 of 33 survivors from the Squalus disaster. The Squalus was out doing tests and sank off the coast of Portsmouth Near Isles of Shoals. First ever rescue of living crewmen from a sunken vessel. Sadly 26 people lost their lives on the Squalus. the signature is followed by the word survivor and the signature is on an envelope that depicts the sinking and rescue of the Squalus including the USS Sculpin. the envelope also contains a photograph of the Squalus.
