Watercolor on paper, 20.75 x 24.5 inches, signed lower right. Gene (Charles Eugene) Klebe (Maine, 1907-2009), is largely known for waterscapes and magazine illustration. This work, a reaction to the horrors of the second world war, is a stark departure from his usual style and subject matter.
