CHARLES B.J.F. DE SAINT-MEMIN (FRENCH, 1770-1852) PORTRAIT ENGRAVING OF ELIZA HEWSON, 1798. Copperplate engraving on paper, 2 ½ inch-square platemark, inscribed below profile: "Drawn & engrd. by St. Memin Philada"; 4 ¾ inch-square (view) within reproduction giltwood frame. Eliza (1781-1835) was the daughter of Dr. William Hewson and later married David Caldwell, Clerk of the U.S. District Court of Pennsylvania. By descent in the Caldwell family.
