Start price: $120

Estimated price: $250 - $500

Buyer's premium: 20%

Shirt hand-sewn of relatively coarse, plain-weave, off-white linen, approximately 33 inches long by 26 inches wide in the body, with 19 inch-long, gusseted sleeves gathered into wristbands of 1 ½ inch width. The shoulders have reinforcing bands with gussets at the neck and the collar is a working life replacement of finer linen. In overall form, this shirt follows the form of those made from c. 1790-1820s, but the placket to the front slit and band reinforcement below suggests a slightly later date. Wrist and collar buttons are mother-of-pearl.
