Dressed to Kill, Dressed to Till
Lot 24:
Essentially a pair of wooden clogs, made with a shaped wooden sole and a heavy leather upper. This type of shoe was commonly used by the laboring classes and in this form, commonly seen in European factory and foundry settings in historical photographs from the 2nd half of the 19th century through WWI. Probably French-made, c. 1900.
