Dressed to Kill, Dressed to Till
Lot 23:
A well-made miner’s hat of leather, heavily stiffened by jacking, and with three rows of reinforcing stitches through the multi-layered visor. Commonly used by Belgian and French miners during the second half of the 19th century. These hats have been appearing on the antique marketplace over the past decade or two, misidentified and marketed as 18th or 19th century sailor hats!!
