Dressed to Kill, Dressed to Till
Lot 19:
Pair of worsted boot liners, early 19th century. Each liner is made of two cut, fitted and back-seamed stocking-like bodies, both made of a plainweave worsted, which are then joined by fitting one inside the other, then pad-stitching them together in the foot and heel area, with the addition of a heel reinforcement piece. The tops are higher in front to cover the kneecap, top edges are seamed and backstitched. Provenance: purchased from Robert Oswald, 2002.
