Artwork by ‘JOB’ (whose full name was Jacques-Marie Gaston Onfray de Breville) and text by “Montorgueil” (Octave Lebesque), who collaborated together on several children’s books on early French military history. History of the military service of a famous French soldier, from the American Revolution through the Napoleonic epoch, beautifully illustrated throughout with line drawings and 38 color, chromotypogravure plates (incl.18 full-page and 3 double-page) by JOB, one of the leading French military artists. Folio (14 ¾ x 12 inches). Pictorial cloth boards with some embossing in gilt and other colors. 80 pp. Some light rubbing to covers, otherwise a very good copy with clean and bright contents; handsome example of a scarce and popular work
